Meeting rationale
The theme of technology transfer (TT) is remarkably established in the dynamic role of the third mission as a necessary and essential extension and evolution of academic research to generate value by adapting to the needs of society. Indeed, this synergistic action is the mechanism by which ideas and discoveries generated in academic laboratories are transformed into products and services for the community with a significant impact on society. This topic is even more significant in the field of biomedical research. Therefore, this conference aims to address the issue of valorization of the results of academic research. These themes and all the several aspects of TT represent novel subjects of public engagement actions and policies for the creation of value in the University and in Public Research Institutes throughout the European area. This effort is needed to align skills and fill the existing gap between scientific research and business to achieve the common goal of improving the quality of life of patients.
